The family, according to early records had heavy responsibilities in both church and war departments in Brabant, which is the central district in the lowlands of Belgium. This was a rich agricultural district. As far as we can learn the root of the family tree rests in Carl Nicolas Von Wouwern. He was married to Anna de Ratzans, (Fru von Machaden de Sempach;) she was buried in the same place with her husband in the cloister Desdori?s ?Chor?; she loved the Catholic religion very much and has given much to churches, schools and hospitals as well as to the poor. view all
